Summer Camp Policies

IMPORTANT POLICIES PARENTS MUST READ BEFORE REGISTERING CHILDREN FOR WOODCOCK SUMMER CAMPS!

Campers are grouped by school year. Please register your child based on the grade s/he is in THIS year (2007-2008). If your child is in Pre-K this year, and is entering Kindergarten in the Fall, register for Pre-K. (etc.)

Our camp programs run Monday-Friday.  Each group meets for one week only, and campers are more than welcome to register for multiple weeks. We will not pro-rate or give discounts for partial weeks.

Campers in the Junior Naturalist Camp will learn about a different topic each day, and best efforts will be made to ensure that returning campers will not repeat topics. Group names (Butterflies, Ladybugs, etc) do not denote topics for the week but instead help the staff to organize the children.

Adventure Campers will enjoy a variety of more challenging outdoor adventure activities that will be determined by their counselors and by the desires and abilities of the group.

Woodcock Nature Center does NOT offer swimming. Campers in the Adventure Camp program will learn to canoe, under the supervision of a lifeguard, a camp director and their counselors.

Our Friday night camp-outs are optional, on designated weeks, weather permitting.  There is an additional charge for Camp-outs that will be announced at Camp during the week.

MEMBERSHIP with the Woodcock Nature Center is required to register for our summer camps.  Joining costs $50 for the whole family, and lasts for a full year.  Members get discounts on our year-round programming.  If you are not a member, or your membership expired, please include an additional $50 in your camp deposit check.  If you are not sure whether you are still a member, please don’t hesitate to call us directly at 203-762-7280 to find out.  For more information on membership, please visit our Membership Page.

DEPOSIT: A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required per camper, per session to hold the camper’s place. This amount will be deducted from the total program fee.  You may choose to pay the full fee with your registration.  Deposit and Membership Fee are not refundable and not transferable, for any reason. All other fees may be refunded before May 16, 2008. After that date no refunds or transfers will be given. No exceptions.

All payments and health forms are due May 16th, 2008.  If we do not receive your materials by then, we cannot hold your spot, and will open groups up to the waiting list.  Please use a separate registration form for each camper.  You may send us a copy of your child’s school health form, so long as you include and sign our Health Form Waiver.

You will receive a confirmation VIA EMAIL 7-10 days after your packet is received.
